“It was an intimate gathering with family and closest friends. It was actually just for fun, which turned out to be really fun kasi exciting pala to find out ng ganoon,” shares the blooming pregnant Camille Prats-Yambao via an exclusive phone interview with Moms & Babies.
Planning the Party
Prior to this year’s gender reveal, Camille and her husband VJ had a gender reveal party for their daughter Nala, who is now over a year old. “VJ and I knew the gender then, and we revealed it to my family. So this time, I wanted it different. Gusto ko talagang ma-surprise. So I asked my best friend Ginger to do it. And then she said, ‘No, I also want to be surprised.’ Sabi ko, okay sige, I will pick out someone close to us who I can trust na game naman to be the one to coordinate for that.”
She asked Bea Manlulo to safeguard the gender results. “Si Bea actually is the best friend of my brother Carlo and we’ve known her since forever. We were planning the gender reveal. I really also wanted to find out the same time everybody will.” They planned the simple party together, “Nag-isip kami parang how are we going to do it. We thought of the balloons and then the pinata para mas marami yung confetti burst.”
Everything happened within a week’s time. “Bea found out Saturday, and then we had to wait for another week before the gender reveal, so nakaka-frustrate lang ‘yung thought na the gender is out there but we don’t know yet. It made it even more exciting tapos nakaka-nerbyos pala siya.” It was definitely a long week of waiting. “Nagtatanungan kami. Tapos ako, I would dream about it. Si VJ naman was kind of obsessing about it the first few days and then, parang pinili niya to forget about it up until Sunday na. Para hindi niya masyadong isipin,” shares Camille.
From past exclusive interviews, Camille admitted to hoping for a baby boy. “It’s different from when I was pregnant with Nala. The vomiting is still there. The hilo, it was quick lang, siguro mga six weeks tops. Then, I noticed I wasn’t so sensitive with the smell of food. I was also more active than when I was pregnant with Nala. With Nala, I could barely move, take a shower, or go to work. I felt dizzy and bad almost all day long. I could sleep the whole day pero with this one, it was somehow a bit easier except for the acid reflux. That’s really bad.”
The big reveal
Guests were asked to come in dressed as their guess. “So pink for a girl and then blue for a boy. Marami ang nag-hope din na it will be a boy para boy and girl na sila ni Nala,” reveals Camille. “Ang sakit sa tiyan, prior to popping the balloon and pulling the pinata, parang sobrang ninenerbyos talaga ako. It was really a surprise!” Her son Nathan was so excited to find out that they were having a boy, “I think because first, he really wanted a baby brother, second was because his guess was right.”
