Happy Ongpauco-Tiu shares easy recipes for the whole family to enjoy

Mother-of-four and mompreneur Happy Ongpauco-Tiu was one of the guest speakers at the recent Béaba launch. To date, she has 14 restaurants under the Happy Concept Group of Companies, including Pamana, Hawaiian BBQ, World Tops, and more. One wonders, what does she prepare for her toddlers? Here, she shares some easy-to-prepare recipes for the whole family (even babies as young as 8 months old) to enjoy, all tried and tested by this talented cooking mama using Béaba Babycook.

MINESTRONE

Ingredients:

  • ½ tbsp. diced onion
  • ½ tbsp. garlic
  • 1 tbsp diced celery
  • 2 tbsp diced carrots
  • 2 tbsp diced zucchini
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ cup crushed tomatoes, drained
  • ¼ cup warm chicken broth

Serves: 5 Servings for baby, 1 cup for adults

Procedure:

  1. Put all the ingredients in the steaming basket (add crushed tomatoes last so the juices can blend into the other vegetables).
  2. Fill up the water tank until the top and steam for 8 minutes or until thoroughly cooked.
  3. Transfer to the food processor
  4. Add warm Chicken Stock
  5. Pulse until smooth.
  6. Season with salt and pepper

Note: Recommended for babies 8 months and above. The recipe may be used for adults too, just add more chicken stock.

SPINACH AND BROCCOLI DIP

Ingredients:

  • ¼ tbsp. extra virgin oil
  • ½ tbsp. minced garlic
  • 6 pcs Broccoli with stem
  • 1 cup spinach leaves
  • ¼ cup whole ricotta
  • ¼ tsp Lemon juice
  • ¼ tbsp. shredded basil
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Cream Cheese

Serves: 5 servings for babies, 1 cup to share for adults as dipping sauce

Procedure:

  1. Put Spinach leaves, broccoli stems, fresh basil and garlic in the steaming basket.
  2. Fill the water tank
  3. Steam for 10 mins or until thoroughly cooked.
  4. Transfer to food processor.
  5. Add olive oil. Ricotta cheese, Lemon zest, Parmesan, & Cream cheese
  6. Pulse until smooth

Note: May be eaten directly as baby food for babies 8 months and older or as a dip with small slices of bread for teethers, and best as a dip with bruschetta for adults.

BERRIES & YOGHURT POPSICLES

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup strawberries
  • ¼ cup blueberries
  • 1 drop vanilla essence
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • ½ cup yoghurt

Serves: Depends on how big popsicle molds are.

Procedure:

  1. Put all ingredients directly in the Beaba food processor.
  2. Pulse until smooth
  3. Transfer to small popsicle containers and freeze until hard.

Note: Recommended for babies 8 months plus and for children of all ages.

BANANA-PINA COLADA SLUSH

Ingredients:

  1. ½ cup diced Pineapple
  2. ¼ cup diced banana
  3. ¼ cup coconut Milk
  4. ¼ cup water or to taste for level of sweetness (it depends on the fruit)

Serves: 5 servings for babies, 2 small glasses for adults

Procedure:

  1. Combine all ingredients in the Beaba Food Processor
  2. Pulse until smooth
  3. Best served with crushed ice.

Note: Recommended for babies 8 months plus.
