READ: Celebrity parents’ heartwarming Mother’s Day messages for their moms

By Kristelle Bechayda

The recently celebrated Mother’s Day wasn’t only an opportunity for the moms to pat themselves on the backs, but also a moment to give honor to their own mothers who had shaped them to who they are today.

On Instagram, celebrity parents Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Danica Sotto-Pingris, and many more shared their heartwarming messages for their mothers. Get your tissues ready, for their humbling stories recounting their mothers’ hard work and sacrifices will surely make you tear up.

Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio

If there is one thing that children find admirable about their moms, it would be their resilience. For Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, she credits her strength from her mom Alicia, whose example had prepared her to face life’s challenges head-on.

I needed to be strong in life for various reasons and I cannot thank my mother enough for preparing me for it. She is a strong woman. The reason why I never had a question that women could work and a house falls apart without the mother’s mind, body, and soul. Thank you Mama @mommy_lols for this and so much more. My resilience comes from you, I know that. As well as my brutal realism which protects me from wasting time on unproductive delusions. Whether you intentionally gave that to me or not, what is important is that I saw you do it and knew somehow that I can do it, too. Happy mother’s day! 🌷 . . #mamawonders #peralehood . . 📸 by @jamiemapaguphoto (check her feed for other remarkable mommies!)

JUDY ANN SANTOS-AGONCILLO

Meanwhile, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo proudly calls her mommy Carol as a tough mom for having to work in Canada as a nanny to support her and her older siblings.

“[She] missed a lot of milestones while we were growing up, took care of other people’s children, took 2 to 3 jobs at a time just to make sure she’ll be able to fill her balikbayan boxes with our “bilins”… cried every Christmas eve and other special occasions that she can’t celebrate with us,” Juday wrote.

The actress continued, “She’s happiest when were happy.. she’s the first person to feel our pain.. she’s a warrior.. and she’s our mom.”

KORINA SANCHEZ-ROXAS

Still in disbelief that she is now a mom of twins despite her age, broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas can’t help but look back on the humbling story of her mother Celia, who had to give up law school for her younger siblings.

“She was working in Hongkong then as a singer, they were a big family of meager means. She worked to send all her 6 siblings through school, forgetting her own dream to become a lawyer,” Korina wrote.

Sa wakas… Ako naman🤣😂 I always wanted children. Wasn’t sure it would ever happen. Twins? Boy + Girl? Never ever thought. How I wish my Mom were around. So today, I honor my mother Celia. She was working in Hongkong then as a singer, they were a big family of meager means. She worked to send all her 6 siblings through school, forgetting her own dream to become a lawyer. She made a life for me and my brother, started her own company that grew to be one of the largest in the country, built her dream house with a pool and my very own pink room. She cooked so well, was an interior designer, always dressed to the nines, gave us the best of most things in life. She had to bury her own son, my younger brother when he was 19. And in his honor, she lived her #BestLife by going back to school at almost 60. She wasn’t perfect. But she was all of these good things. She was only 64 when she passed, from medical negligence of some doctor (who to this day I want to strangle). Gone too soon, this Renaissance Woman. I offer her my endless love and my commitment to care for my brothers, keep our family tight and guided. I offer her my own children Pepe and Pilar to be under her watch from Heaven. May they grow up to be all good things she was. Till we all meet again.💚💋🎂

The broadcast journalist looks up to the life her mother had built for her and her late brother and proudly narrated, “She cooked so well, was an interior designer, always dressed to the nines, gave us the best of most things in life. She had to bury her own son, my younger brother when he was 19. And in his honor, she lived her #BestLife by going back to school at almost 60. She wasn’t perfect. But she was all of these good things.”

Considering her mom as a great example, Korina wished her twins Pepe and Pilar would turn out just like their grandmother.

LJ REYES

Calling her mother Lalaine a brave woman with the ‘purest heart she has ever seen,’ mom of two LJ Reyes can’t help but jest that she indeed took after her.

Kidding aside, the actress is highly appreciative of everything her mother has done, especially for her grandchildren.

“I think I can never thank you enough, greet you enough, nor make you feel special enough to let you know how much I appreciate you and how much we all love you!” LJ wrote.”Thank you for loving your apos just (a little more than) how much you love me and Achi! Much much more than you love us! I am looking forward to be with you again soon Mama!”

As shared in her previous Instagram post, LJ’s mother is currently working abroad and only comes home once a year. It is the actress’ greatest wish to bring her to different places someday.

DANICA SOTTO-PINGRIS

Meanwhile, Danica, the daughter of Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie, shared photos of collated newspaper clippings of her birth as a touching gesture to honor her mother.

“The day you when you first became a Mom was on Mother’s Day. I want to thank you for being so strong and for loving me and Oyo unconditionally. Happy Mom’s Day! We love you!” Danica wrote.

What do you think, mommies? Aren’t their messages heartwarming indeed?
