Over the weekend, former actress Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio gave birth to her second child.
The mom-of-two gives everyone a first glimpse at her new bundle of joy, whom she nicknamed Manu, on her Instagram account.
“And so after 25 hours, this boy is finally out. I cannot wait to tell you all our birth story,” wrote Rica, who indeed pushed through with her plan of having a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) at her own home.

And so after 25 hours, this boy is finally out. I cannot wait to tell you all our birth story. Let me just say that it was a miracle to actually do homebirth, vbac (vaginal birth after caesarian), and to remain completely unmedicated all throughout the labor. 🙌🏻 So many times I wanted to quit… but somehow strength came to my bones and body. Oh I really cannot wait to share it all with you. . . To all who have been praying with us since We began this journey, I thank you. From a fearful time to a victorious birth, can you imagine??? In those 25 hours his heart rate stayed completely perfect. Never went down. God protected my child through and through. He created AND sustained him. And i believe this is His promise to this child for all the rest of his life. ❤️❤️❤️ . . #mamawonders
Having gone through the whole birthing process unmedicated, Rica describes the experience as a ‘miracle’ and said, “So many times I wanted to quit… but somehow strength came to my bones and body. Oh I really cannot wait to share it all with you.”
Why Rica opted for home birth
The former actress also shared on Instagram stories some snippets during her delivery and gave credit to the birthing team who assisted her, which included doula Irina Okhmatova.
“I really want to try to go through labor at home for as long as I can. I feel safer and undisturbed in a familiar setting. The last time I labored in the hospital, I felt pressured and afraid,” Rica shared in a recent exclusive interview with Moms and Babies.
She added that she wanted her five-year-old firstborn to also take part in the birthing process. “Philip is so excited to see the baby come out of Mama, so I am so inspired to do it at home where my firstborn can stay with me the whole time.”
Having suffered from two miscarriages before, the former actress is over the moon with joy in welcoming her rainbow baby and thanked everyone who showed their support.

How can I not shed tears if it had to take five years, 38 weeks of praying God will sustain him, 25 hours of labor before I can finally have this boy? His papa, kuya, and I, have longed for him deeply. ❤️ . . I cannot wait to share more photos. Not only of ourselves but the birthing team we carefully chose, and who carried us through the different turns of this birth. Truly, if we want something supernatural, we must understand that it cannot be done alone. 🙌🏻 . . #mamawonders
