Isko Moreno wants solar panels, rainwater collectors installed in public schools
Seeing today’s environmental challenges, Manila City mayor Francisco ‘Isko’ Moreno Domagoso reveals his wish to install solar panels and rainwater collectors on the rooftops of public primary and secondary schools within the city.
Domagoso sees the need to tap into renewable sources of water and energy. “We’re having challenges with water in our dams. We are still below comfortable water level in our dams, as per reports,” he explained.
He is also encouraging the members of the school board to come up with environmental projects and programs that will make use of renewable energies.
The Manila City mayor believes this is also a great way of showing the students the importance of looking after the environment.
“If they are seeing these types of facilities, and it can be done since it’s not even rocket science, they will know how to care for the environment.” he explained.
He added that they would most likely follow the same example when they grow up. “When they would be given the opportunity in the future, they will do the same kapag malalaki na sila,”
